Research Data Management for Health Sciences

What is ORCID?

ORCID is a registry of research identifiers. Its purpose is to distinguish scholars from one another (regardless of name variants) and provide those scholars with a means of linking to and sharing their research objects with others, including journal articles, data sets, multimedia projects, and patents. ORCID's goal is to provide one central service that links with other research identifiers. This eliminates scholars' need to enter and re-enter the same data and information in different systems. ORCID's services are for scholars in any discipline, type of organization, or geographic location.

Mission Statement

ORCID provides an identifier for individuals to use with their name as they engage in research, scholarship, and innovation activities. Add information to your ORCID record

Add works

There are three ways to add works to your ORCID record:

Add other versions of your name

  • Adding additional names you are known by helps identify you.
  • The primary ORCID name should be the name that you are most commonly known by and publish under.
  • You can also click on the pencil icon next to also known as to enter other names you have used. This can include your middle name(s), married names, initials, and names in different languages or character sets

Add additional email addresses

  • Ensure that you never lose access to your ORCID Record by registering all of your email addresses on your account.
  • Go to your Account Settings, then select email and enter other email addresses you use.
